Michael's "Leak"

We took half a day this weekend to visit the new excavation barn at "Ash Fall" in Holt County.
Apparently 20 million years ago a volcano in the Rocky Mountains "Leaked" a lot of ash and killed the various species of animals at this watering hole.  Mostly early relatives of the horse, rhino, camel and deer.  The Iceland volcano in the news right now is just a "spit in the bucket" compared to this one.

Michael "Birds"

Across the street from this gas station is a marsh were I took pictures of red-winged black birds for the other contest I do at www.weeklyphotography.org.
That is not the point of this picture, however.  We have a disaster on our coastline that will affect many birds, and is related to the Worlds use of gas and cars.  We were filling up when I took this picture, what can we do?  Intellicast has an informative map on its location about the size and movement of this spill.

Ryan's "Rail"

Late and B&W. I'm becoming predictable.

The gantry crane at Omaha Steel Casting runs on this rail.

Michael's "Rails"

This is and easy one right?  Just go out and take a picture of a train.  I did that.  I didn't really like any of them.

I was taking pictures of a snowball bush in the back yard for my other contest at www.weeklyphotography.org and just kind of took this picture of stair rails on a whim.

Now I just need to find people to come over and help me paint them!  If you look at the top, there is a curious dog wondering what the heck I am doing.

My sincerest apologies. It's late, but it's not very good.

Michael's "Electric"

This is a substation at 72nd and Pacific close to the old entrance of Aksarben.
I remember one time a snake got into this facility and shorted out something that caused a blackout all the way to the Cross Roads Mall.  On a side note; I'm having trouble getting the music to "The Electric Slide" out of my head.

Ryan's "Grunge"

A grungy and tattered flag on top of the tower at Platte River State Park.

It's not much, but it's what I shot.

Michael's "Grunge"

If Omaha has a "grunge" area of town, that would be Benson, which has become a sort of new Old Market in the Omaha area.
The band these tweens are waiting to see, "May Day Parade" is probably not a "grunge" band, but some do play here.  They had a nice tour bus though!  Definitely not grunge.

Next Week "Electric"

Grunge due Sunday Night.
